Founded in 1934 by Vernon Scarborough, Carolina Foods began as a sandwich company in Charlotte, North Carolina, and after World War II shifted to sweet baked goods, launching the honey bun that became its flagship product. Today the third-generation company operates a 100,000-square-foot plant producing more than one million honey buns per day alongside Duchess-brand doughnuts, Dunkin Sticks and pies.
