The Candy Basket Inc. is a Portland-based confectionery tracing its roots to the Shorthill Taffy factory founded in 1914. The company began producing handmade confections in 1938 and was purchased by Dick Fuhr in 1977. Later, his daughter Kipi and her husband merged their operations in 1998-nicknamed the Taffy Queen and the Chocolate King-forming one of the largest candy companies in the Pacific Northwest. Today, The Candy Basket remains family-run and offers a wide range of sweets, including saltwater taffy, handmade chocolates, truffles, fudge, and seasonal gift collections.
