Who we are
Whitfield Foods, makers of ALAGA Syrup, has produced cane syrup in Montgomery, Alabama since 1906. Founded by Louis Broughton Whitfield Sr., the Alabama-Georgia Syrup Company (Alaga) packaged its first syrup can in 1907 and built a modern plant at 1101 North Court Street in 1911. Alaga Syrup quickly gained national distribution thanks to innovative packaging and marketing. Today, Whitfield Foods continues to produce its signature cane syrup and other flavored syrups, maintaining historic recipes while also offering pancake syrups and barbecue sauces.
